Firm pressure
Deep Tissue Massage in Akshayanagar, Bengaluru
Deep tissue massage is slow and deliberate. The therapist works with forearms, elbows, knuckles and thumbs to reach the layers of muscle and connective tissue beneath the surface, staying on one area until it begins to give way rather than gliding across the whole body.
It is the treatment most often asked for by people who spend long days at a screen or in Bengaluru traffic and carry it in their shoulders, neck and lower back.
Is this treatment for you?
- Desk workers with persistent shoulder and neck tightness
- Long-distance commuters and drivers
- People who find lighter massage pleasant but not enough
- Anyone who wants focused work on two or three specific areas
What to expect
- 01Firm, slow pressure — much slower than a Swedish massage.
- 02The therapist pauses and holds on tight spots rather than moving on quickly.
- 03You will be asked to breathe out as pressure increases.
- 04Warm oil is used; a shower afterwards is available.
- 05Pressure is dialled up gradually, never suddenly.
Before you arrive
- — Arrive 10 minutes early so you can settle, use the washroom and talk through what you want from the session.
- — Eat lightly beforehand — a heavy meal in the hour before a massage is usually uncomfortable.
- — Drink some water before you arrive.
- — Tell your therapist about injuries, recent surgery, pregnancy, skin conditions or anything painful to touch.
After your session
- — Mild soreness for 24–48 hours is normal after firm work.
- — Drink water through the rest of the day.
- — Keep the rest of the evening gentle where you can — heavy training straight afterwards tends to undo the calm.
- — Some tenderness for a day after firmer work is common. If anything feels sharp or wrong, tell us.
