Sports Massage in Akshayanagar, Bengaluru
Sports massage is built around what your body has been asked to do. The therapist works on the muscle groups your training loads most — quads and calves for runners, shoulders and lats for swimmers and gym-goers — using firm, targeted strokes and some stretching.
It is not a relaxation treatment. Expect to be involved: describing how a leg feels, moving a limb when asked, telling the therapist where the load has landed.
Is this treatment for you?
- Runners training for a distance event
- Gym-goers in a heavy training block
- Cyclists with tight hips and hamstrings
- Anyone returning to activity after a break
What to expect
- 01Firm, specific work on the muscle groups you name.
- 02Some assisted stretching and movement during the session.
- 03Questions about your training and how the area feels.
- 04Pressure adjusted around anything sore or recently strained.
Before you arrive
- — Tell us your training schedule and any event dates so the session can be timed sensibly.
- — Avoid booking firm work in the 48 hours immediately before a race unless you already know how your body responds.
- — Eat lightly beforehand — a heavy meal in the hour before a massage is usually uncomfortable.
- — Drink some water before you arrive.
- — Tell your therapist about injuries, recent surgery, pregnancy, skin conditions or anything painful to touch.
After your session
- — Keep training light for 24 hours after a firm session.
- — Drink water through the rest of the day.
- — Keep the rest of the evening gentle where you can — heavy training straight afterwards tends to undo the calm.
- — Some tenderness for a day after firmer work is common. If anything feels sharp or wrong, tell us.
